I am trying to index PDF files and I get the following error: "Text of body not indexing. Check the type of encoding" I've looked at the Encoding Analyzer but I'm not sure how to tell what to set it to. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. When I did try to run the index it would only index 4 out of 200+ PDFs.

Hi,
each document could have different encoding. When you indexes one document (or N° documents) you must define encoding type to read this document and type encoding for convert this encoding in "Analyzer Encoding". I'll explain: Now the XPDF, of default, reads the content of the PDF file, in ISO-8859-1 (or Windows 1252 or Latin-1), and buffer this in ISO-8859-1 encoding. If the Analyzer is set in "UTF8_CaseInsensitive" (remember that this field should never be changed), JiFile must convert the buffered content ( ISO-8859-1) in UTF8. To do this, you must define encoding of the document in field "Encoding" in JiFile configuration. If your "PDF" document is in another type of encoding, you must configure the XPDF for read and buffer the content in this encoding. This is possible in file: if you use JiFiel 2.0 you can find this file in: administrator\com_jifile\libraries\ifile\adapter\helpers\binaries\xpdfrc\xpdfrc Warning: the "xpdfrc" file, should not have extension. For more information you can read englis documentation (download document PDF): www.isapp.it/en/jifile-documentation.html Or Italian documentation: www.isapp.it/it/documentazione-jifile/scarica-pdf.html If you not solved the problem, you can open a ticket at "isApp.it Team Support" www.isapp.it/it/support-ticket.html and attach one or two document to verify the correct configuration. Thanks for the help, I know have it working. But now I have a new problem. I can not search the front of the website I can only search the backend. Is there a JiFile front search? I hope so because I don't like the built in search in Joomla. I tried enabling the smart search even though I don't like it and it work but it isn't showing any results with PDF listed that I know are indexed.

Hi,
you can verify if the JiFile "Plugin" is enabled. Remember that JiFile for now not works with the "Smart Search" of Joomla!, but only with a standard search (com_search) or with the JiFile search. If you not solved the problem you can open a ticket at isApp.it Support Team. Thanks |
